RECONNECTING COMMUNITY
Reconnection After Release
Navigating life, once released, is an adjustment. EPP’s support begins with connection, and a community in which to continue a practice of self-observation and awareness so that we can avoid falling into old patterns that no longer serve us. EPP in-custody students who reach out after their release are invited to join our Reconnecting Services, which include the following: Welcome Out Interviews | Students of EPP now working through life "on the outside" are encouraged to check-in and share how they are doing with a member of the EPP community. During this initial interview, we are able to learn about people's current life challenges, and better assess how EPP can support them. We listen with an open heart, without judgment, and begin to build a new “safe container” for our peep to continue to express themselves with openness and without fear. We share information about our Reconnection Meetings each month, and finally, we remind them that they are not alone.
Weekly Personal Check-ins | We offer ongoing meetings via a platform that works best for each individual. These weekly meetings offer consistent opportunities for one-to-one coaching, guided presence practices, and continuing the work of self-awareness that started on the inside and which support a healthy transition back into the often hard-to-navigate issues of everyday life.
Professional Support and Guidance | We offer resume support, interview opportunities, and job leads.
EPP Ambassadorships | For those we want to pursue becoming an EPP Ambassador, we explain the application process of the Ambassadors in Mentorship (AIM) program once folks have adjusted and demonstrated their commitment to staying connected via our monthly meetings and ongoing check-ins.
The process outlined above is an evolution of our past re-entry offerings. We have found that personalized one-to-one meetings and individual follow-ups fit with the life demands of our peeps. This personalized service, along with our two monthly virtual reconnecting meetings, brings connection to the EPP community in a way that can be customized for each person.
