Understanding Self and Others Through EPP's Compassionate Curriculum

Path to Freedom (PtF) is the second program in EPP’s International Enneagram Association (IEA) Accredited Training Program and a component of how we train potential “guides” to teach EPP’s compassionate curriculum in prisons and jails around the world. While PtF is open to all who are interested in deepening their understanding of self and others through a progressive unfolding of EPP’s compassionate curriculum, please note that it is a prerequisite for those who wish to apply to EPP’s Guide Training Program, regardless of previous Enneagram training, certifications, or background.
After successful completion* of 9PrisonsONEKey, participants are invited to apply to Path to Freedom.

*Successful completion includes 100% attendance in all live cohort sessions (one missed session allowed) and 100% completion of the LMS coursework.

Ptf COURSE OVERVIEW

In this four-part course, we will deepen our understanding of the Enneagram system and all nine types.

Picture

In the first course, Navigating Our Territory, we will take a big picture look at personality, exploring the Universal Laws of 1, 3 & 7, the Three Centers of Intelligence, Object Relations Theory, and the Triadic Groups into which the types are organized.

In the second course, How We Develop, the class will investigate personality development and how attachment, neglect, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) can impact an individual’s capacity to thrive.

The third course, Addicted to Personality, will expand on Enneagram Prison Project’s compassionate approach to addiction, and the circuitry that is needed for healthy growth and development. Using the Childhood Timeline exercise, everyone will be invited to connect the dots between childhood experiences, the survival strategies we developed, and what we carry with us into adulthood.
Finally, in course four, Defenses and Reactivity, we will learn how the type-related defense systems are the glue that holds our personalities in place, and explore our respective key(s) to freedom.

During PtF, we will employ a combination of self-reflection, didactic teaching, and break-out sessions to clarify common areas of confusion for new students of the Enneagram, as well as support each other in identifying the accurate territory for our own Enneagram types. Guided by EPP’s Principles of Safety, participants practice how to articulate insights in real-time, discern our inner critics from our inner witnesses, and how we “do the work together” in live cohort sessions and small group pods.
PtF is a 66-hour International Enneagram Association (IEA) accredited training program.

ptf commitment and expectations

Participants in all of EPP’s programs are required to acknowledge and accept the Principles of Safety, which can be reviewed on this webpage.

As with all of our courses, we ask that participants not be “passengers” in their learning and growth. PtF participants are expected to be present for and engage in all live zoom gatherings facilitated by EPP Guides, as well as the weekly self-guided small group gatherings.

In addition, you are asked to make steady progress through the course curriculum provided within EPP’s Learning Management System, which includes video, journal prompts, mindfulness and other exercises, as well as further reading to complement the learning that takes place during the facilitated zoom gatherings.

As you consider your readiness to apply to participate in PtF, please reflect on your current capacity, level of commitment, and availability to commit to weekly in-person gatherings, in addition to ongoing self-guided learning through the above mentioned platforms. Deepening our understanding of self and others using the Enneagram and EPP’s compassionate curriculum is incredibly tender work that requires emotional responsibility, as well as a personal commitment to self-care and practicing self-compassion. We encourage you to reflect on the level of emotional and psychological support you feel you have and need in your life as you take this next step in your personal development journey.

Full participation in PtF is required to be considered “Complete” in the course.
  • Full participation means that the participant misses no more than 2 live cohort sessions and completes 100% of the LMS course.

Full participation in PtF is a prerequisite for applying to our Guide Training Program. Attendance in 9P1K and PtF will be reviewed as part of the application process.

A total of 66 IEA accredited hours will be earned with 100% completion of PtF.
